A Race...

Curt and I worked on putting together some of Chiquita's gear that we got last week... We raced to see who could get done first...he did the swing and I did the bouncer...Who do you think won?

Curt's done a really great job putting things together and making sure they work!

Ice Fishing Weekend

The last weekend in February, Curt went up north to Escanaba ice fishing with his Dad, Uncle Jeff, and Pat and Michelle. (I stayed home with the dogs!!) They got one fish during their three days of ice fishing but they had fun hanging out, going out to eat, and going to the casino; yeah Curt won! Here are a few pics from their icy weekend up north!
Here is a picture of Pat & Michelle in the ice shack staying warm...does that look warm too you?

Here is Curt's dad outside fishing; can you see him smiling?
A nice picture of Pat
A view of the shore line; it is really pretty out there but still too cold for me!

Name Change-??

Curt and I are stuck on a name.... We've agreed to Eliza Rose a month ago and have shared that name with a lot of people... even ordered a plaque with her name on it. However, last week at my niece's soccer game we heard another name that caught our attention; Josie and would still have Rose as a middle name, Josie Rose.We don't know which way to go because we like the names for different reasons...granted we have time to make a decision
but I think that we should just stick with Chiquita!

We were SPOILED!!!

On Sunday my sister and mother threw Curt, Chiquita, and I a fabulous baby shower. There were family, friends, co-workers from school, and the zoo. We were extremely spoiled by everyone's generosity. Here is a pic of what the room looked like as we brought in all of the gifts. The room looks a little bit better now but we still have a lot to organize and put together.

Here are some pics of the baby shower cake and a special one just for Chiquita! Of course, these were made by my great friend Jennie!

My mom knitted a blanket for us with roses in all of the corners as well as gave us a baptismal gown for Chiquita. She made a garment bag for it as well; the picture on the right is me figuring out what it is! I did not know this was coming and absolutely love it. We actually received other handmade quilts; which I find so amazing as it took people's time and energy.

My Goddaughter Madalyn Reese

This past Sunday my good friend's daughter, Madalyn Reese, was baptized. Jennie and her husband Rob asked me to be a godmother to Madalyn; quite the unexpected honor! I hope that I can do it justice. Here are a few pics of me, Jennie, and Maddie...

Quite the crazy hair...I am working on getting a hair appointment within the next week!

More of Chiquita's Room...

This past week Curt's mom came and shampooed the room room for us.
Then, Curt put together the crib for Chiquita. He had quite the support crew as my father came to help and brought along my two nieces, my mother, and my brother! All for little Chiquita...my brother came in helpful though because I kept having them switch the arrangement around until it felt settled.. needless to say Curt and my dad were done moving it by the time my brother showed up! Here are a few pics from the day...this is my youngest niece Makenzie with Curt...she's got a little crush on him. My nieces spent the night as well so we all went out to dinner and watched Madagascar 2 together. Well, Curt and Karley watched it...both Makenzie and I feel asleep within a half hour of starting it!

Chiquita's Room-- Step 3

My mom came over again tonight to finish the tree. We had 4 different greens left over from other projects that we mixed and matched with but really only used one! She did a great job making Curt's and my vision come to life...we love the tree. I can't wait to see it this weekend when Curt's dad comes over to help put up the crib! Someone told me that's when it really hits home, when the crib is there and physically set up waiting for the baby.

Happy Anniversary to Us!!

Curt and I are celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary today!
We spent the day together yesterday, we had lunch at Mo's (with a gift card from the wedding!) and went shopping. Rather than buy/exchange gifts for each other for the anniversary and for upcoming Valentine's Day, we decided to use that money and we went and bought our travel stroller system as a gift to each other! Curt put it together yesterday right away; I think he was excited to do his first "daddy" chore; next will be the crib!

Today we ate from the top layer of our wedding cake and are going to snuggle and watch TV together. Thanks again Jennie for our fabulous cake; it was still delicious!

And Curt surprised me with flowers and a card that we put in the kitchen. We also got cards from his brother Paul and my parents;which was fun to open "real" mail that wasn't bills!

Chiquita's Room-- Phase 2

Today my mom came over to start the tree/butterfuly mural on the wall. She got the tree painted and added some butterfly decals. Next she'll be back to put on some leaves!

Baby Chiquita's Room: Phase 1

Here is a picture of the wall's in Chiquita's room, pastel sage it was called. I however did not have the camera battery charged to get a picture of Curt and my dad in action. Next, my mother will come over to paint a pink tree/butterfly mural on one wall.

The boxes in the middle are the crib and dresser waiting to come out of their boxes!
