A Brewer Game!

Josie enjoyed her first Brewers game on Friday night. She was fascinated looking around at all of the people. However, she did get a bit bored and took a snooze while we were there. Josie wasn't able to showoff her Brewers shirt though because we had to dress for November!
We had tickets in the splash zone so for every homerun we were right there as the fireworks were set off and a water gun sprayed around the bleachers. We covered Josie each time but Curt got it good! Look how wet his hair got!

First Day of School

Here is Josie with her backpack ready to go to the babysitter for her first day!
What's in that bag? Bottles and a formula dispenser that will travel back and forth.
The rest of her things we will keep there so we don't have a lot to bring back and forth.
Denise (the babysitter) said it was a rough morning with tears and crying and Josie looking all around for me. But in the afternoon she was on the floor playing, talking, gurgling, rolling, and looking around. Hopefully tomorrow morning she will pick up where she left off. She even had smiles for Denise as we left for the day. Now for me? Tears when I left and as I walked to school and anxiety throughout the day since I knew she had a rough morning but I had many people checking on me throughout the day and then got calls tonight from my mom, my sister, and my dad checking on how we both faired our first day of school.

Cake Class Graduate!

Jodi and her flowers
Kathy & her daisies
My rose spray bouquet
Easier than I thought but I need to work on frosting a smooth cake!
I tried doing a parchment paper trick and it just pulled up all of my frosting and I had none left to fix it well! Looks like a mess but it still tastes delicious though!
my rainbow

Here's my certificate to prove it! I definetely learned how to do some things and I definetly need to practice a lot more. But I had lots of fun and my sister, Kathy, and I laughed a lot. Here are some of our creations from the past 3 weeks. And the compliment of all compliments; Curt eats and likes the cakes! He is not a sweets guy but this week he's had two pieces a day; not healthy, but it makes me happy.

Polar Bears and A Family Picture

Saturday night we went to the zoo for the A la Carte festival. Yummy...lots of good food.

The polar bears were pacing back and forth in their exhibit and that really got Josie's attention. She followed them back and forth as they walked by.

Cake Class

My sister and I along with one of her work friends Kathy signed up for a cake decorating class at Michael's Craft store during the month of August. Here are a few pics of what I am learning and practicing to do. I have pictures on my cell but need to find the adaptor so I can upload them.

Curt's Birthday

Tonight Curt and I went out to finally see Harry Potter 6! Curt and I used to see a lot of movies together but not so much lately so I suprised Curt with a babysitter (thanks Jodi) and off we went to the movies. Simple date but great! Tomorrow we will celebrate with his family, that's three days of birthday fun for him!

Outside Living

All the time Curt and I talk about building a deck or laying a patio but we don't do anything.

Now with Josie we would like to be outside with her more but the lack of shade makes that hard to do. So we found an awesome screened gazebo on 50% clearance at Lowe's. Curt and my dad put it up Friday night with no directions because it was the display model. We got a bit more off because of it being the display and we had a $50 gift card so we got a great deal on a normally costly piece. I can't wait to get Josie's pool filled and for us to spend the end of summer in the shade having fun!

Birthday # 34 for Curt

Tonight we celebrated Curt's birthday with my family. We had tacos (Curt's fave, well besides steak) and cake! We sat outside for dinner but came into the house for dessert and presents (the boys had to watch the Packers). Curt got spoiled but that's okay he deserves it for working so hard everyday and for helping with everything around the house and with Josie! Jeans, shoes, shirts, Brewers tickets, and a new flat screen TV for the rec room. Josie wore her special outfit for him and got him a sticker too!

A Team Effort

Making Curt's birthday cake went way smoother than I expected. Karley, my ten year old niece, and I made the cake last night...a yellow fudge swirl cake. When we were adding the cocoa powder she accidentally bumped the bowl and the powder landed neatly all over Mulligan. She reacted quickly so Mulligan couldn't eat any chocolate. Mulligan got a bath and the floor got an extra scrub too!

On Saturday Jodi and I frosted and decorated the cake. We had to play alittle bit with the thickness of the frosting and the colors but we eventually got there. At our next cake class we will have to ask how to make the colors more red, blue, green like in the rainbow not so pastel. But the cake looks like a car which is what we were going for!

Josie was a great help during the cake making process...see her helping with the mixer. After that she stayed in the kitchen with us jumping in her jumper and playing on her playmat. Guess she got bored because she fell asleep on the kitchen floor!

A great team effort from all four of us! The next cake will be for who????

Cereal = Yummy

BEFORE--What's about to happen here???
Tonight was Josie's first time getting cereal! She did AWESOME! The first couple spoons just drooled out. But then she got the hang of it and liked it; she even smacked her lips a few times. By the 4th time she was opening her mouth for the spoon. Then towards the end she started grabbing the spoon to put it in her mouth herself of course not much cereal made it to her mouth that way! She would also sqwauk at me if I wasn't going fast enough for her so I would say she liked it. After about 10 minutes though she got really angry and wanted to eat! I think it wasn't hitting the spot fast enough like a bottle! Hopefully tomorrow goes just as smooth.
DURING--MMM, I llike this!
Let me do it myself! I know what to do!

Jumping Josie

Josie has really wanted to be upright non-stop lately and always bouncing and kicking her legs so we decided to put together her jumperoo; a gift from Tracy and Trisha. She started by doing a lot of staring at everything, then a few bounces happened, and a few more. She still doesn't quite know what she's doing but she gets a smile/smirk every time she starts bouncing! This morning I put her in while I ate breakfast and when I went to take her out she started to fuss at me; she wanted to stay in longer.
**sorry, I don't know how to change the orientation.**

My Kind of Recipe!

So here's a recipe I heard about the other day; my kind of cooking because there's none involved! You take an egg and a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and put it in the microwave for one minute in a mug and that's it, you're done! I went and made 2 eggs and added spinach and red onion because that's what was in the house but next time diced tomatoes and green pepper sounds good too! With all of that it took me a bit longer like 1 minute and 50 seconds or so!

Escanaba Weekend

Curt and I were away for a three day weekend in Escanaba. Josie did awesome for the drive both there and back. Curt was able to go fishing with his parents a couple of times, that left Josie and I to go on walks, play on the floor, and visit a few craft stores. Besides that though we did nothing to get photos...I had finally convinced Curt that there was more to do and enjoy in Escanaba besides fish and it turned out to be a rainy, crummy day and he was not feeling well at all so we didn't get to do any sightseeing! Oh well, maybe next time...

4 months old!

Josie is 4 months old today! We had her appointment on Monday afternoon and she has grown...more than they had predicted! She is 13.5 pounds (55%) and 25.25 inches (80th%).
I was shocked by the numbers! She hit her growth spurt for sure!
He said she was very healthy and looked and sounded excellent.

She is getting a little flat spot on the back of her head so he suggested we try having her side sleep for the next couple of months, flipping sides every other day to help things round out. I've heard from a few people now that they experienced that too. Curt asked "did we do something wrong" (he knew I was thinking it!) and the doctor said "no, you were blessed with a content baby who sleeps peacefully."

And we are blessed, Josie Rose is an amazing baby; calm, interested in things around her, and a lover! She is now really starting to enjoy her tummy time, she has rolled over about 10 times from belly to back in the past 3 weeks but not on a regular basis yet, blows bubbles, makes a motorboat sound, drools a lot, has laughed only a couple times so hopefully that comes soon because we can't wait to hear it, she yaps up a storm espescially in her crib when she wakes up, knock on wood..she's been sleeping through the night until at least 5:30 for about a week and a half now! Thank you God for our wonderful baby girl!

National Night Out

Last night we went to Tosa's National Night Out which has been a "family tradition" for many years now. My nieces were with their mom for the night and my mom is still taking it easy after her knee surgery so it was a small group but still nice. The Walk brings awareness to safety and has lots of activities for kids. There is about a mile and a half walk, a band, lots of fun free giveaways, and fireworks. We got a picture of Josie in her tshirt before the walk, then I did some cutting and tying to make it fit but of course I didn't get a picture, and we tried to get a "nice" family shot but not this time! Josie loved the walk, she slept for a bit but the rest of the time she was up, out of her stroller, and looking at everything she could! We had a great time with my sister and our friends Krisitn, Mike, and baby Anita. We ran into Christina, a friend of our neighbor Rachel, and we made plans to get together to make hair pretties with bows, headbands, and flowers! Very excited for that!

Green Lake for a Day

Over the past weekend we went to see one of my Dad's sisters (he has 10 siblings) in Green Lake. Curt went so he could go fishing with Sonny, I went to see the Amish, and Josie went because she wanted to stop at the outlet mall on the way. Ha Ha! Of course I had to indulge her!One of my cousins was there with her three children; one of which, Warren, was celebrating his 11th birthday. I didn't get many pics but here are a few of my sister Jodi and the tree rope and then one of my brother Michael and the girls in the treehouse.
